YOUTH INITIATIVE FUND
In July 2017 the Christchurch Youth Action Plan was launched by the Christchurch Youth Council to enable young people in Christchurch to explore what is important to them and how they want to live their lives, as well as to figure out ways to make this happen. At the launch it was announced that a $50,000 Youth Initiative Fund would be set up to support actions that underpin the principles in the Youth Action Plan.
The funding is now being allocated through a variety of methods: The Big Ideas Fund, Dragon's Den, Revamp: Participatory Budgeting, and the Community Series. Organisations involved in the Youth Initiative Fund are:

- To create an inclusive, vibrant community for young people
- To empower young people to be active citizens
- To develop and support the tangible aspirations of the Youth Action Plan
- To support and develop young people across the city through a variety of avenues
Outcomes
- Increased opportunities for positive youth development and active citizenship by young people for young people.
- First-hand experience in funding processes, project management/delivery/accountability
- Young people are able to work on their own ideas and projects that will benefit their communities and set their own agendas
- Better able to undertake activities that align with the issues and expectations that young people have presented in the Christchurch Youth Action Plan.
